What to know before you start our restaurant?
There are so many things to know before starting your own restaurant. Sometimes, starting your own restaurant can be like having a giant stone on your shoulders because you do not know where to begin but now you will know where to begin.
Most of all make sure that you have all of your permits and licenses. This depends on the city and state that you live because each city and state has different rules and regulations that restaurants have to follow. Some types of permits that you might/will need is a License for Business, Food Handler’s License or Permit, Liquor License (this is only needed if you are planning on selling liquor at your restaurant), Sign Permit, Music License (this is if you are planning on playing music in the background of your restaurant), Fire Certificates, Police Permit, Sellers Permit (this is needed if you are planning on selling whole food), and a building or zone permit.
The first thing to do is the design and location of your restaurant. Even if you have the greatest food in town, people will not go to your restaurant if it is not in a good location and the decorations are not there. You can pick anything that you want, just make sure that it matches the theme of the whole restaurant because you do not want to name your restaurant “Surf’s Up” and have a French style decorations in the restaurant.
The next thing to know about before you start your restaurant is the food. The prices food, should be fair for both you and your customers because you should not sell a $30.00 hamburger unless it is made with truffles and Kobe beef.
The next thing to know before starting your restaurant is make sure you hire the people for the job that you need them to do. You will not be able to do everything yourself, it up to you on what jobs you want other people to work but some of the jobs that you might want to look into hiring people for is; Accountant, Bus Boys or girls, Chef’s, Lawyer, Managers and Servers. Before, you start hiring people; think about what you want them to do at work. Since, each company the work different, because it depends on what the owner of business wants them to do.
The last thing to know before starting your restaurant is to make sure that you have equipment for everybody to do their job correctly. Some type of equipment that you might want to think about is a cashier (you can have a standard cashier or you can have computer that is a cashier and will send the orders straight to the kitchen for there is no type of confusion between the front of the house and the kitchen), then kitchen equipment (enough cooking utensils, forks, knives, pans, plates, pots, spoons and anything else that you might need.)
There are still many of other things to think about before opening the doors to your very own restaurant but those where the top 5 things to think about before you start.
