What a wonderful thing it is to cook a scrumptious feast on your grill for your family to enjoy. You feel like a true barbecue master after you’ve created a masterpiece of culinary delights. It’s an exciting thing to be at the helm of a great barbecue meal that puts a smile on the face of all of your guests. Unfortunately, sometimes we can get set in our ways when it comes to home grilling. Sometimes we get too complacent with traditional recipes or menu ideas. While there will always be popular favorites that become a signature part of your barbecue meals, you should also look to rejuvenate your routine from time to time. The worst thing that can happen is letting your menu planning become predictable. It’s far better to keep your guests guessing so they will look forward to your home cook food each and every time. Here are some interesting ideas to spice up your personal barbecue routine.

Make it a Potluck – this is a great way to get everyone in on the action while you concentrate on the grilling. Have everyone bring at least one dish, and you might even want to assign certain things so that there is no overlap. This leaves you free to concentrate on expertly grilling each piece of meat to perfection. It also has a tremendous amount of variety because you’re getting food from numerous sources.

Barbecue Pizza – while it will certainly become more popular in the future, most people have never tasted a home barbecue pizza. It’s a great way to show off your talents while bringing something zesty to the table. Best of all, it’s incredibly easy to prepare and you can even get your guests in on the action by choosing of their own toppings. You’ll find that a barbecue pizza takes no time to cook at all, and when it’s done you have a product with a delicious crispy crust.

Do it at Night – a great way to mix things up and to change a general ambience is to wait until sunset before your barbecue. A perfect nighttime barbecue is a chance for adults to mingle and enjoy a few drinks under the moonlit sky. In the summer it will still be warm which creates a perfect atmosphere for hanging out with your friends. And when you add in delicious food to the mix, you get an experience that summer memories are made of.

Go Back to Charcoal – a very simple way to put a twist on your barbecue food is to go back to more traditional methods. Most people own gas grills these days, and that affords them the opportunity of greater convenience and faster cooking. But there’s something to be said about using an old-time barbecue and combining it with traditional elements. Some would argue it gives you a more authentic flavor that even the most expensive gas grill cannot match. Using a charcoal grill takes a little bit more skill because you don’t have temperature gauges that can turn down the flames. Another great idea is to buy a portable model to have alongside your main barbecue, and this will allow you to add flavor for special dishes.

BBQ Sauce – most people shy away from making their own barbecue sauce because they think it’s too complicated. Or maybe it’s just too easy to go to your grocery store and pick up a bottle. But rather than overpowering your dishes with a generic sauce, you might want to take things up to a whole new level with your own personal recipe. This is a great way to put your personal signature onto food that you can fully call your own. Your guests will be begging for your recipe, and it will be up to you if you want to share your secret.

Tipping is always a matter of contention. What is too much? What is too little? It is hard to find a common ground, but it is assumed that the quality of service should decide what merits the base of ten percent, and the maximum of fifteen or twenty percent in certain restaurants. While most say that fifteen to twenty is the best, there are some restaurants where that exorbitant amount may add beyond what the customer can reasonably afford. On the other side of the coin, ten to fifteen percent of a bill at an establishment that it little more than a hole in the wall would be maybe a dollar or two extra and not really reward the server for what may have been a truly well done job.

Take into account the following when considering tips: timeliness, accuracy of order, attentiveness, and involvement. If the server gets to the table and puts in orders in a timely manner and ensures the table’s drinks never run out then he or she would have earned it. Ensuring the order is related correctly, while not entirely in their hands since they give it to the kitchen and put it in their hands, is nothing to scoff at. The difference between a chicken teriyaki and a chicken tetrazzini is like comparing an apple to an orange. The server should check all the tables to ensure that no one table ever has a large issue. Small problems should be overlooked if the server at least walks by and acknowledges it, but is currently handling another table’s food. A customer should never believe that only their table matters, but sitting for fifteen minutes waiting for a refill of a beverage is something you could ask about.

All of this does not matter though if the server is not actively involved in fixing problems that come out of the kitchen or miscommunication with themselves and the customer. For example, a steak came out undercooked, it should be taken back to the kitchen and the server should be willing to see if the customer would like anything else while they wait. The longer a customer sits at a table with nothing it is easier to tip less. If the order is completely irreparable they should be willing to make a concession on it since the error came from them or the kitchen, but there should be no reason to reduce the amount of tip someone is going to receive. Mistakes happen, but if they happen repeatedly, then it should become a factor.

In short, if service is poor, then ten percent should be enough. The server is a person as well and has to make ends meet. If service is adequate and consistent then anywhere from twelve to fifteen percent should be considered. When the server does fabulous service, and goes above and beyond what is expected of them, then over fifteen percent is considered, but not put straight up to a fifth of the bill.

Outback Steakhouse was founded in 1988 and is an Australian-themed restaurant with a casual atmosphere. The company’s signature food items include grilled steaks, ribs, and seafood with hearty side dishes. It’s well-known appetizer, the “Bloomin’ onion,” is a 1-lb onion that is sliced open from the center, battered, and then deep fried and served with a mayonnaise-horseradish sauce. Food is made from fresh ingredients, hot, and cooked to order for the customers. They carry Coca-Cola fountain products and seasonal Australian beers and wines as beverages. Desserts include an assortment of both hot and cold treats. Meals may be eaten in the restaurant or ordered for curb-side pickup by phone or online.

This brand has a strong brand following of their restaurants and fosters repeat customers through their “Outback Rewards” program.
Typically sized at 4,000 to 6,000 square feet, most restaurant locations have seating for 170 to 250 guests at a single time. The locations feature separate bar and dining areas. Interior design portrays a relaxed atmosphere filled with rich dark woods and comfortable large booths and spacious tables. Wall decor features Australian memorabilia, aboriginal artwork, and Australian wildlife to lend to the “outback” feel.

Outback Steakhouse restaurants are owned by OSI Restaurant Partners based out of Tampa, Florida, in the United States. This restaurant chain has over one thousand locations across the United States as well as locations in over 22 additional countries including Canada, Hong Kong, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Israel, and the United Kingdom. Franchising is not currently available in the United States.

One seeking to to become a franchisee of an Outback Steakhouse needs a number of qualifications and assets in order to do so. To purchase into the Outback Steakhouse branding, a strong proven record in the restaurant business is required. A well-founded knowledge locally of the customer needs, surrounding area, real estate, government regulations, labor management, and supply chain of a food service establishment are paramount. Additionally required is a commitment to establish four to ten restaurants in the first four years and a financial commitment to $6.5 million US dollars cash or business loan for investment minimum. OSI Restaurant Partners does not currently provide financing for their franchisees.

To guarantee that the management team of every Outback Steakhouse franchise is equipped to run the restaurant, all management is required to complete the company’s program training which includes 20-24 weeks of education and on the job training in an existing restaurant. Additionally, they provide on-site training in each new restaurant location to the staff at the opening of the business.

If your restaurant is in really bad shape and needs a miracle in order to stay open and in business, you might want to get help from Scottish Chef Extraordinaire, Gordon Ramsay. Chef Ramsay’s hit television show Kitchen Nightmares helps bring in business, return order, and add pizazz to suffering restaurants. To audition for this show you must meet some requirements such as having been in business for at least one year, have seating for 35 people in your restaurant, and the restaurant must at least offer dinner service. There are also certain regions in which the casting calls for this show take place.

You can view and download the requirements as well as the application on the Kitchen Nightmares website: To apply for Kitchen Nightmares you can either apply online, or through the mail. You will be required to submit photographs and possibly a video of you and your restaurant along with your application. Make sure you are very detailed in your application and video. Tell them about yourself and the history of your restaurant, describe your vision for your restaurant, mention the type of food you serve, mention your specialties, and don’t forget the most important part, which is mentioning what is wrong with your restaurant. You must state why you feel you need their help. This is where you can let loose and talk about what problems you have in your restaurant. You can talk about Chef/Owner relationship, staff problems, family feuding, or whatever may be wrong or causing you to need the help of Chef Ramsay and his show Kitchen Nightmares. Be sure to include your contact information in the application, if this step is for some reason forgotten, the show staff will not be able to get back in touch with you.

Do not be afraid to lay all your problems out there. This show is here to help get failing or troubled restaurants back on their feet. If applicants are very detailed, give the correct information, and submit their applications properly, they have a good chance at getting chosen for the show. Honesty is really the best policy in this case. The show staff want to see what your restaurant means to you and they are genuinely interested in helping out.

You might be wondering how bad a restaurant’s situation has to be in order to have the best possibility of being helped out and featured on the show. The only thing I can suggest or say is that you need to be completely honest, informative, and passionate about your restaurant and the struggles you are facing. Pour your heart and soul out. Tell the show staff why it is imperative that your restaurant gets the help of Chef Gordon Ramsay. State what being helped would mean to you and your community.

Keep in mind that hundreds, if not thousands, of people send in applications to Kitchen Nightmares. The staff use your application, videos, and photos to get to know you and your restaurant as best as they can without actually being there. The more information you can give them, the better your chances are of being on the show and getting help. Submitting an application does not exclusively guarantee acceptance. All applications are processed and reviewed by the show staff. If you think your restaurant needs to be saved and you are at a loss as to what step to take next, you may want to apply for Chef Gordon Ramsay’s show Kitchen Nightmares.

The name matters a lot. It is not in any case but in every case. If a person, a business or an institution has a nice name, then people get attracted towards the same easily. It doesn’t mean that name is everything, but it holds a lot of significance. Particularly, if you are going to do any kind of business, then you have to choose a great sounding name for your business. The name of the business exerts a great impact on the mind of the people.

Here are some of my favorites although maybe distasteful:

- CumofSumYunGuy
- HappyHoWah (happy river of sorrow)
- Wok2You
- Wok4Me
- Wok this way
- New Ho Lee Chow

If you are going to open a new Chinese restaurant, then you should choose a good name for that. Now a question may pop up in your mind, that which kind of name could be a good name. A good name is that which will sound something special t the mass. In today’s environment, people are looking to do something different and at the same time, they are getting attracted toward the different. If you are going to open a Chinese restaurant, then you should go to give a different name to the restaurant. At the time of giving the name, you should give a good thought.

Chinese foods are the favorites of the young mass. Young people mostly prefer the Chinese foods. It doesn’t mean that elderly people don’t love Chinese food. They also love it, but youngsters like it more than the octogenarians. So, at the time of choosing a name for the Chinese restaurant, you should target the young mass. Young mass is going to drive your business; once you manage to attract the young people, then the elderly people will automatically come up as their parents.

Young people love everything funny. They love funny clothes, funny bikes and everything funny. They also love funny names. If you want to attract them, then you have to go for a funny name for your restaurant. In fact, funny names suits best to the Chinese restaurants. Elderly people also love to see a funny tag in front of a Chinese restaurant. From all the ends, it is showing that, the name should be a funny one.

Where you could find a funny name for your restaurant? Finding a good funny name for your Chinese restaurant is not easy. It is easy to find a funny name, but you should not be satisfied with only a funny name, you should go for a funnier one and it is hard to find that one. At the same time, you have to make sure that, your name is a unique one. There is no other restaurant with the same name. If there is any other name in your locality or in your nearby cities, then you can’t go for that name. You have to find a unique and funny name for your Chinese restaurant.

Where to find such a name? If you have no idea about which kind of name you should go, then take the help of internet. With the help of the internet, you could easily find a good and funny name for your restaurant. Millions of funny names are available over the internet, which you can take for your restaurant.

There are many complaints about McDonald’s policies that require consumers to make an actual purchase before they may enter or make use of the restroom facilities, no matter what age or how many persons. Apparently this procedure is followed in all McDonald’s restaurants in the world. The management of all McDonald’s facilities is instructed to use the assistance of security guards to forcefully enforce these policies. All customers must first show a valid receipt from their in restaurant purchase to the security or management person, at the restroom doorway. They do not give you a key or hand it over the counter to you, this is an unreasonable and degrading practice. It could easily be deemed as at the very least an annoyance and in some cases very close to being racist whether intentionally or not is impossible to say.

In theory the use of these kind of policies stems from the consistent problems that McDonald’s locations have experienced with concerning transient, homeless and non-customer related individuals that were coming into locations regularly. These non-customers would enter location restrooms and fail to leave for long periods of time. So it became standard procedure to use the security system with all individuals that were potentially entering the lavatories. This way there was no chance of discrimination against anyone as individuals. Instead all non-customers were treated with a level of harassment that was in keeping with the standard policies, which had been successfully working for the corporation.

If this is truly a standard procedure is followed in all McDonald’s restaurants in the world, there are many customers that would likely be aggravated, annoyed or even more greatly offended to know this. Technically there are no laws being broken by an establishment being allowed to impose such policies upon its non-customers, but perhaps there should be one passed at the state or national level to start with. In the very least, non-customers should be treated with a standard of dignity that would include allowing them to use restrooms in cases where they had full bladders or children that were in sincere need of relieving themselves.

It seems stupid that as a customer, the patron must first pay for food which then must be left unguarded or attended, and only them can they be allowed to go and use the location facilities. Most customers have purchased food on many occasions, during which they did not use the restrooms at all. There needs to be some balance struck, or an attempt at a compromise between these two extremes of customer and non-customer related service standards. It would appear that the policy is actually more of a tactic to get consumers to give more money to the cash registers based on being rushed into payment under duress, but at its worst it is degrading and dehumanizing for the experience of being a McDonald’s customer generally.

Again it must be stated that this procedure is followed in all McDonald’s restaurants in the world is quite literally appalling. The individual must evaluate for themselves and decide just how strongly they feel about such policies, and if they consider them fair and or legal?

So, you want to be a restaurant manager. You have watched others perform this job and it appeals to you. This is your calling; you want to manage restaurants for a career. You have many questions running around in your head. How much can you earn as a yearly salary? Will a degree in restaurant management help? How do you get started in this field? The answers to these questions and many other questions about restaurant management are complicated.

The question that everyone has about the career path they have chosen, is how much will I make. Money is a very important factor when deciding what type of job you will be doing for the rest of your life. You want a job that will allow yourself to grow as a person as well as grow financially. It is very hard to pinpoint how much a restaurant manager will make in a year. So many factors come into play when determining the salary range. One of the most important factors is the type of restaurant you are managing. A small family owned restaurant typically does not have the clientele and resources to pay a high salary. Is it a national chain like McDonald’s or Pizza Hut? These types of restaurants will pay in the middle of the road as far as your salary. A five star restaurant can command the best managers and pay them to be the best. As a rule the bigger the restaurant and the more high end the menu, the higher your wages will be. If you can handle the pressure of an upscale five star restaurant then that is where you will make the most money.

Another factor to consider is the location of the restaurant. Restaurants will typically scale the menu and the employee salaries to fit the location of the store. A sandwich in downtown New York City will cost a lot more than the same sandwich in Angola, IN. With that theory in mind a manager at a restaurant in downtown New York City will make a lot more than he would managing the same store in Angola, IN. Because of the location, you have to factor in the cost of living when determining your salary as a restaurant manager.

Experience is another factor. This is a little easier to figure compared to the other factors. Generally the more experience you have the higher your salary will be. Employers want to know what you can do before they spend money on you. As you go from one restaurant manager job to the next, your realm of responsibilities should increase as well as the number of employees you manage.

With our economy in its current state, the salaries have gone down for restaurant managers. Too many people are willing to work for a smaller wage just so they have a job. To throw out a number and say this is how much you can expect to make is foolish at this point. A good manager should be able to make between $40,000 and $50,000 per year. This will help make a rewarding career.

Starting a business from scratch always has its challenges. One of the biggest challenges facing most start-ups is getting access to the necessary funding required to finance the business. A restaurant is a capital intensive venture that requires plenty of capital to start. This is because there are plenty of items to be purchased, overheads to be met and workers to employ and remunerate. While funding the business venture may be tricky, it is not an altogether impossible undertaking and there are plenty of source of funding to finance a restaurant business venture.

A good place to begin would be personal funding. Entrepreneurs looking to invest in one business or another usually have funds they can access. They include liquid assets such as cash, savings and financial markets instruments such as certificates of deposits. This can be a good source of funding for the business, especially if the savings were made over a long period of time. Other non-liquid assets can be converted into funds by redeeming them. People that hold assets such as a home, car, rental property and others can covert these into cash which can be used to finance the restaurant business.

Banks and financial lenders can be a great source of funding for business ventures. Though most lenders would be hesitant to finance a start-up as most start-up are expected to fail in under a year, an investor could borrow funds from a financial institution in a different capacity. For example, a personal loan or other loan and use this money to finance the starting of the restaurant. Apart from mainstream financial institutions, there are many other sources of funding that can lend funding to such ventures.

Venture capital firms can provide the start-up though they will have their own demands for example, they may require a certain percentage ownership, say 15 – 25 per cent of the business and of the profits for several years. Others may provide the venture capital necessary but then require a professionally run and manage enterprise, with a manager, accountant and so on. Though these conditions may seem tough, they are necessary when there are no other sources of funding available.

Sometimes it may be possible to speak to family, friends and colleagues. They may love the idea and decide to chip in and contribute towards the venture. Many successful ventures have been financed by family and friend. If an idea is great and is well presented, there is a possibility of selling the idea to them. In this instance, it may be necessary to repay back the funds once the restaurant becomes profitable.

On very rare occasions, there could be some grants available from various sources. These include local government grants, business grants or other sources. These grants are usually extended to individuals looking to fund a business project that is viable and will be self sustaining within a certain period of time. There are also plenty of lenders not found in the mainstream financial sector. These lenders are usually happy to lend to individuals such as investors and entrepreneurs at a certain margin of interest. They can be found across the internet, in the yellow pages and through financial journals or editorials.

Just purchased some new restaurant equipment and now comes the time to ask who will buy used restaurant equipment. Here are a few places that may be looking for this equipment. The key is to look in the right places. The first place to look is at the local food bank. The local food bank makes a lot of meals and if the owner is willing to donate the equipment this would be a great place to let the equipment go as they are always looking for new things to help with their tasks at the local food bank.

A second place to look at possibly selling the equipment would be a new restaurant that is opening up soon as sometimes being a new business it can be hard to afford new items. This is why a new start up restaurant would be a great place as they would be also looking for this equipment because it would help fit in there startup budget. This option would even allow the seller to make some extra cash on this type of sale.

Third place to look is at maybe selling the equipment online separately as there are a lot of great places online to sell equipment along with other things. This option would allow the seller to set the price that they want to sell it for. The only thing is with this make sure to be careful when making the sale as there are a lot of scam artist that work these sites also.

Another great place is to take the equipment into a discount store as they are always looking to add some great stuff to their stock. This option would also allow the owner to set a price that they want for the equipment however is ready to get a smaller price as this is a discount store.

Depending on the size of the equipment and how much there is another option maybe to sell it at a local rummage sale from the home or shop. This option is also great because the owner can determine how much to sell it for and get paid up front for the sale. The only thing is to remember this is a rummage sale so the price needs to be fair for it to sell.

Lastly, another choice would be to look at the hospitals or local schools as sometimes they may need to replace some of their equipment and if the equipment is still in good shape they may also be willing to give a reasonable price to the seller for that equipment.
When it comes time to sell the most important question to be asked is how much does the seller want and what shape is the equipment in. By answering both of these questions it will make it possible to find the best sale at the end.

These are a good assortment of options that would provide the best chance of making sales on the restaurant equipment that is trying to be sold.

Just remember if the seller is willing to work with the buyer on this equipment it will make it a lot easier to make such a sale.

Over the past few decades the obesity rate in America has risen dramatically. The presence of fast food restaurants in America has also increased. Many people believe that fast food restaurants are to blame for the increased obesity rates in this country, but there are also people that think fast food restaurants are not to blame. Both sides offer compelling arguments.

Fast food restaurants are businesses, therefore they are trying to make money. This immediately tells some people that the restaurants do not care about the consumer or the consumer’s health, but this is not true. Businesses value their customers, they expect them to come back and keep spending money. Without customers a business cannot flourish or function. A fast food restaurant offers a variety of food choices and several meal options. This lets the consumer pick, choose, and build a meal to suit their standards or lifestyle. Therefore, the consumer is always in control. Restaurants also don’t mind catering to their consumers. You can ask for a hamburger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, you can ask for apple slices instead of fries, vegetables instead of a baked potato, and much more. Restaurants are here to service the consumer and make money, but the consumer is always the number one priority.

Obesity means to have excess fat in the body, more than what is considered average or normal. People are mainly obese because of their lifestyle choices. Obese people might not eat as healthily as they should or exercise enough as they should, this means not taking part in enough physical activity for the amount of food they ingest. A person’s environment and behavior has a lot to do with them being obese. The main word to focus on would be choice, the choice a person makes influences the outcome, the final product. A person can choose to eat healthy and exercise or they can choose to over eat and not exercise much or even at all. A person can choose to eat a fully loaded hamburger with all the fixings daily, or have the hamburger three times a week and then a salad another day and maybe a chicken sandwich for the rest of the week. This is just an example, there are numerous ways to create a balance between physical activity and food intake.

The blame battle between obesity and fast food restaurants is still ongoing. Some people blame the fast food industry and others blame the consumers. The fast food industry has made and continues to make many changes in order to promote health and get people active, they are giving more choices, handing over more control to the consumer. People need to make better choices when it comes to their diet and they need to incorporate more physical activity into their daily lives. Fast food restaurants are not the enemy. Once again, I state that the the key word is choice. The fast food restaurants are offering healthier choices and alternatives to their consumers, now it is up to the consumer to make the right choice for their health. They need to get active and make healthier food choices.
